Micron race exhaust, too loud?
just bought me a micron exhaust from the bay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1305950374...84.m1497.l2649 Will it ruin my hearing and get me killed by the neighbours? What is a db killer? If I put one in would it stop any spits and bangs? As i wouldn't mind those but dont want it rediculously noisy, just people knowing where I am. |
Re: Micron race exhaust, to loud?
A db killer is a removable insert that goes into the end of the exhaust can to reduce the sound level, not sure if a race spec can will have a db eater though. Race cans will also be stamped "Not for road use" so you'll need to take it off for MOT.

Re: Micron race exhaust, to loud?
Does it not go in the link pipe? Sure I had heard something to that effect somewhere.
Edit: Just slang for baffle then (oops - feeling dunce-like) |
Re: Micron race exhaust, to loud?
Not heard of a db eater going into the link pipe tbh. This image best describes it:

Re: Micron race exhaust, to loud?
Is there such thing as too loud anyway?
|
Re: Micron race exhaust, to loud?
No, but murderous neighbours and no being able to hear them coming might be a problem.
I have dreams where I am chased (did I just say that?) |
Re: Micron race exhaust, to loud?
Ha, nice... weird but whatever :D
If it is too loud i think you can get universal baffles that you can fit quite easily. Tbh if you're leaving early in the morning or coming back late at night they probably wont be too impressed as on idle it's quite a boomy sound with my bike. |
Re: Micron race exhaust, too loud?
I have a very loud exhaust and too worried a little about the neighbours, but no one has said anything about it. I do flick the engine off before I pull into the car park (I live in a flat) if it's late and coast in neutral. You can get a db killer off eBay for about 15-20quid if you think it's too much.

I was going to bid on that but forgot about it lol, let me know how it sounds

Re: Micron race exhaust, too loud?
Bike sounds like a Harley once old exhaust cut off, I would have been quite happy to have left it like that. Put zorst on during weekend, and am very happy.
Deeper and thumpier sound, can even get a pop/bang out the back if I hit the kill switch momentarilly on overrun, prob not a good idea but but saw it mentioned somewhere else on here and had to try it. |
