scorpian or delkevic stubby?
i have a 2000 naked curvy 650.at the minute it has a blue flame pipe the one with the two exhaust ports, its an alrite pipe but a bit long for my liking and it has no baffles at all or ways to fit baffles.i would like to fit a stubby pipe and was wondering if anyone has tryed either the scorpian extreme street or the delkevic stubby.would i need the carbs done or any other probs or just fit and drive? thanks

Re: scorpian or delkevic stubby
You are slightly confuseing here, baffles in the Blue Flame are held in by circlips and are available from the manufacturer, they would quieten it down. A stubby would be louder, broadly speaking it is the length of a can that determins the volume. (theres more to it than that)
A short stubby will also need the bike re-jetting or it runs a risk of running lean. |
Re: scorpian or delkevic stubby
Why not get a nice stubby Fuel can, the Org get discount with them and they're well made.
Have a look in my picture albums You shouldn't need the carbs done, just fit and drive. Mine was fine |
Re: scorpian or delkevic stubby
Depends how short, a road legal one with the baffle IN will be fine... My DIY one was a bit silly and did affect the mid range..

see here:
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=153427 Although significantly cheaper i believe the 200mm and 225mm Delkevic cans are all ' Not for road use'. |
Re: scorpian or delkevic stubby
Mines a delcavic road legal stubby. Not the shortest one
It's not that loude even though the end of the baffle mysteriously had 5 holes appre in it. Not re jetted but has a k&n. |
Re: scorpian or delkevic stubby
I bought a Delkevic and had troubles with it rubbing against the swingarm. In the end I got a refund. They seem to fit pointies ok but not curvies. I've read other people having this problem on the American site. This was a couple of years ago so they may have changed the design, but at the time seemed to be selling the same pipe for pointies and curvies, whereas all other manufacturers have two different cans with a slightly different angle on the connecting pipe.
I then bought a Beowulf which fitted perfectly. Beowulf or Fuel is what I'd go for. |
Re: scorpian or delkevic stubby?
Mines a curvey no issues with fitting . Must have changed the link pipe
