Dead bike :( Electrics

Hey guys,

So the other day my bike died, and I'm not sure what the problem is :( a little while back I had a loose connection in my fuse box which was fixed so I thought maybe this had come back, but on investigation it doesn't seem to be this again.

The bike started fine but I had certain lights coming on, on the dash, off and on, which I wouldn't normally expect, then she started to sputter and wasn't firing properly so I pulled in and switched off. When I switched back on I had nothing, no lights, nothing :(

I took the tank up and shook a few wires to see if a loose connection was in there but nothing flashed up on the dash, and all fuses look OK.

Is there possibly something I'm missing or could try without getting deep in there with a multimeter?

Thanks in advance for the help :)

Sprocket!

Main fuse checked? - it's not in the fuse box it's on the starter solenoid. Battery connected correctly and not as flat as a very flat thing indeed? You probably have checked those, but just in case.

The above checked out, but still no electrics at all, then check along the line:

Battery terminals
Solenoid connections
Main fuse and holder
Plug on solenoid
Wiring to ignition switch plug
Ignition switch plug
Ignition switch
Wiring back to fuse board
Fuse board connections

That's the line that carries current to everything, if nothing works at all somewhere along that line is likely where the fault lies.

Ah thanks Sid, I didn't check the main fuse actually, just the fuse box, had forgotten about the one on the starter solenoid. I'll have another look and check the above things. The battery was definitely not dead, that's been tested, so it's laying somewhere in the electrics . . somewhere :)

Finally got my **** in gear to give this a good check and found it in the main fuse. Wasn't the fuse ut the connector. Think some water had gotten in and caused some rust so gave it a damn good clean with some contact cleaner and it's powering again :) thanks sid
