Bike alarms?

Ok, so i have nice bar ends, belly pan and some lovely pro bolt touches, all the important stuff!! ;)

Now for an alarm, soooooooo, what do you guys have, recommend and avoid?

I dont really want to break the £200 mark, i am not too fussed about it being thatcham approved but do want a good quality alarm and imobiliser, and would like to have it fitted too!!

Any advice would be great!!

Cheers.

Re: Bike alarms

Lots of people prefer alarmed disc locks to alarm systems, about a hundred less things to go wrong.

Datatool are what i would recommend, have had their system 3 on most my bikes (bought with them already installed)

Yeah i have seen the xina disc locks which look pretty good.

I might have to invest in one of thm instead to start off with.

Any ideas which ones are the best ???

Don't, just don't!

You will regret it, especially if you don't want to spend more than 200 quid.

We have removed more Datatool alarms at the request of customers than any other make, mainly because they are troublesome piles of crap.

I'm with Lozzo on this. My bike is fitted with a Datatool 3 system and it's a pain, especially if doing anything on the bike. It just sits there chirping away at you whilst you work and eventually drives you nuts. Also if you're out and the fob battery runs down you're screwed. It's only on my bike because it was fitted when I bought it. I'm going to get it removed and buy an alarmed disc lock instead.

What Lozzo said.

I've had a couple of bikes with Datatool alarms and never again. If I was buying a used bike and it had a Datatool fitted, I'd walk away.

The alarm of choice at the moment seems to be the Xena disc lock alarm. I much prefer mine to a fitted alarm, even though the lock seems to be a bit fiddly.

in my expierence i've not had a thing go wrong with them. They work as they should do if installed correctly.
