Laptop Buying Advice

Looking for a little help finding a laptop for SWMBO. I need to find her a suitable Laptop - to be used for a forthcoming Uni Course and to keep music on - pictures and occasionaly surf the web. Budget is £400 max oh and the most important thing... It has to be white (I kid you not!).. Well the keypad and base white but the lid can be a colour.

I need to be able to go and collect one in store in next 48hrs. I have no clue in the I.T area - so anyone able to point me in the direction of a good portable PC would be great.

Thanks in advance - Matt

Blimey left it a bit late

But Aria aren't too far are they?

Otherwise Ebuyer but you'll have to order it by 11pm today

http://www.ebuyer.com/

Plenty of choice for your budget, as most have huge hard drives enough for pics and music, and you can get a portable HDD for back ups

I got an Acer from Ebuyer, Asus are good too.

See if they've got any deals on, otherwise it'll have to be a local PC shop or PC World

My dad bought one from John Lewis which will match what your after, I can ask him what model it is. The laptop is Toshiba it has 6gb ram, the harddrive is big enough I think the grapic card is combined with the main board not sure, I have only used it for a few minutes! But for what my folks use it for, I expect is same. The onboard sound is pants is the first thing I noticed, however if that not a big deal then its okay. At home I plug my comps, into a 2.1 sound system with a sub its loud enough!

In lieu of that I would go for a descent processer, RAM and a 7200 rpm hardrive for fast access. I'm not sure what out there at the moment, I have two laptops, one I'm gonna sell (wanna buy a mac book pro) but I would check dell outlet I got my current laptop for a good price. Tho it won't be there for xmas day, is that really nesscary? Also a HDMI port is useful, 2-3 USB is good too, it really depends on what your doing ect.

Also I use open office which does the job, it saves on buying word ect.
