Petrol tank repair?

Can anyone recommend a company that does tank repairs?

I've got a 1963 MV Agusta tank that, having been sandblasted, now looks like its had a very sorry life in the past.

It looks like its been crashed and someone has cut the bottom out and had a go at fixing it themselves. The result is a tank that needs both knocking out and knocking in as well as filling and finishing.

Any ideas? 1963 MV agusta tanks don't come up ever day on ebay :-)

Cheers,
C

Dunno how bad yours is mate but I had my dented pointy tank done by a place in the black country whose name escapes me.

He'd invested in new dent pulling things that glued rather than welded rods in the dent which were then used to pull out as much as possible.

It was then filled and painted, he charged me £120 I think.

I'll have a word with my Dad, as he's had a few tanks restored.

Carl - In a short while I'll dig out and pm an address and phone number of a bloke I know who does most of my mates' work. He's a genius and done some very good restoration of rare bike tanks and panels.

email from Lol, aka my dad :0)

Tank dents/repairs. These all do a complete service. ie de-rust; de-dent; pressure test; chrome/paint. 1) Sheffield British Motorcycles.01246 290021/281344/475503. (they also have lots of tanks in stock, its worth a bell) 2) Fuel Tank Repair Centre. 01276 22907 or 07585606599. email; office@hydrografx.co.uk 3) Metal Magic Eversley. Hants. 01189 731631. Company 1) uses Metal Magic to do the dents in tanks sent to them so if your friend only wants the de-denting done then I would advise using Metal Magic and cut out the middle man. If your friend has had a company called Dent Doctor referred to him then tell him to forget it. I had to threaten him with court action to get him to return a tank I had sent for repair, took me 8 months to get it back.

hth's
