found oil on spark plugs around the nut.
 

just changing the plugs out after fitting heated grips and found burnt oil on the top half of the plug, past the thread onto the steel nut part and some on the ceramic.
both plugs affected and were screwed in properly, not loose. also just found some oil residue that has come out of a small hole on the, as sat on it, right hand side, cylinder.

i have no idea how to upload pics onto here, so descriptions is the best i can do.

its clean and dry around all the seals/gaskets. it would appear to be a breather hole but i will try to find a pic of an sv engine online and point out the area.

Without pics, its awkward to say for sure, but if the residue on the ceramic part of the plugs is like a brown colour, almost as if kind of "streaked" upwards, this does sometimes happen on old/used plugs. It's a small amount of, for want of a better term, blow-by.

And not necessarily an indication of a fault with your engine...

Well I can't see how an oil leak from there would get on your plugs!

i dont think it got from there to the plugs, just happened that the plug was oily too, im just a bit confused as i dont know how the plugs would get oily and that hole would be oily =/

Were the plugs, on the outside, wet with oil?

That hole is there to let fluid out......now whether they're there to let oil or coolant out if something fails, or simply a drain for water/fluid from the spark plug orifice to stop them filling up with water when it rains/washed....I don't know. But I would be tempted to squirt wd40 up that hole, and see where it comes out.
If it comes upband out by the plug, well we know then that some oil has leaked.....from somewhere.

i shall squirt it up the hole tomorrow. hopefully it does come out up there so i only have one oily leak to worry about. thanks for the help :)
