6 points in first 2 years, opps!
 

Right well just got clocked being a bit quick and long story short just got another 3 points bring me up to 6 in less then 2 years.

As a result i will lose my licence (bike and car) i know this much.

But what are the rules regarding getting them back, do i need to do both again or just one to restore my licence to its full glory of both bike and car. As i seem to be unable to find a clear answer online with some places saying i only need to do one or the other to get both back.

DVLA -
"If you had any other entitlements, like lorry or bus, on your licence before you lost it, you’ll need to get these restored separately. This can only be done by your local traffic commissioner, who may request that you retake a driving test for those vehicles."

Does this not include bikes?

That site seems to be fairly convinced that if i take one test i will receive both back which is good!

Please back any answers up with some evidence if possible, so much hear say does not make thinks any clearer!

You have 'a driving license' on which are entitlements for various vehicles. Lad I worked with got a straight ban for speeding when he only had a car license. Once the ban had expired he sat his bike test (for the first time) and when his license came back from DVLA it had the car entitlement restored on it.

Thanks, that's what i'm hoping for but hard to find anything definitive on any of the dvla sites. Think if i have the choice will re do my car test as its only one test and not 2 like the bike!

I don't think that you get a ban for the 6 points in 2 years, but just lose your license - i.e. have to sit the tests again for any that you had passed.

Have you had the NIP through yet? I was sure that I'd gone through a mobile camera on the 14th, but the NIP still hasn't reached me. I'm hoping that it's not somewhere just held up in the Christmas post and they forgot to send it on time(!)

Sorry if i wasn't clear ive not been banned just had licence revoked until i re pass test.

Was pulled by an unmarked after a short blast as i had no idea he was behind me, he kept lights off until the last min, by then far too late and had me on camera although refused to show me video? Any case with the speed i was doing i was lucky to just be given 3points and a fine, he could of bent me over but was a very nice cop :) He even complimented my riding skill saying he was struggling to keep with me in the bends just sad i was doing them too quick!

From what i have seen in other forums, i just need to do car or bike test to get back both which is good!

Just a pain in the **** to do it all again!

have to the dvla asked for your licence back, it is possible to have 6 points and it and they don't revoke it. Its at there discretion sort of thing.
