I think he's a bit of a knob but if it saves one person (obviously depending on who that person is), it's a good thing. And a very valid point about someone would probably rather prefer broken ribs to being dead.
Hopefully I'll never need to heed his advice.

It must have worked as an advert because we are talking about it, isn't that the idea of all advertising? As others have said if it saves just one life then it is worth it.

what happened to the blowing in the mouth bit then, don't you do that anymore?
When I had training years and years ago I thought it was 1 blow to 6 presses or something like that?
