K5 Rear Axle Replacement with K3 part?
 

Quick Question: Does a K3 axle fit a K5? I've read about and can't find anything to suggest it doesn't but help from an experienced org member would be nice :)

Long Back Story: (for those who wonder why)

Time for a chain adjustment and my crash damage is coming back to haunt me yet again

The bike went down on it's left and one of the things that scraped the floor was the axle and bolt for the rear tyre

Anyways, damaged thread, and it's probably gonna be a case of it comes off, but will be a pain to get back on (if it goes back on at all). To be on the safe side I need a new axle and ImplodedHamster looks to be selling one.

The axle is the same, that said yours will probably clean up with a thread file and some quality time. Probably worth repalcing the nut witha good/new one though.

Probably not the best photos, since none of them fully show that at one point the thread is buggered all the way back to the nut. But I'll see if I can make it work. If not it's good to know a K3 axle would work and I'm sure ImplodedHamster will be glad to ditch another part.

Yeah she's gonna be getting a new nut and a good clean down and oil up after I've got my exams out the way this week.
