Better fuel economy due to restriction?
 

I'm guessing that this is the case, on Curvys at least, as my restriction is 2 washers in the intakes. I managed to get 150(ish) miles last week before my fule light came on. Mostly 15 miles commutes 2 times a day with 2 - 3 minutes warms ups before riding each way. Is this the norm for restricted SVs? Cost me £17 exactly to fill it to the brim after 160 miles.

whatt, it seems to be really poor for me on my pointy, went out riding today, 121 miles and flashing fuel light was on. when i commute to work i do 10 miles there 10 miles back , alot of stopping for lights and so on, i only get 100 miles till light comes on :/

Might be different as you have FI. Most of my commute is down the A1 which is probably helping. But I also have to let it warm up on choke for 2 - 3 minutes before I can ride off each way. My Fuel light came on at 150(ish). Was at 159 when I filled up with £17 at £1.29/litre.

It used to come on between 120 - 130 miles when I only used my bike for days out and shop runs.

I'm not complaining anyway. It's costing me £3 less than I estimated per week on fuel. :D

economy is all about how you ride/drive. I have a pointy and will get 130 till the fuel light first comes on. This is not gentle riding or a constant speed, its riding around town, twistys, stop start etc.

I get 160 miles before my light comes on, and I don't usually take it easy!

I can't comment on the restriction thing but I'm sometimes surprised by the wide variance in figures that people report for fuel economy on the forum.

My pointy is surprisingly consistent at giving nearly bang on 160 miles from fill up (pretty much to the brim of the inner pump hole) until the light comes on, seemingly regardless of how I ride. 110 sounds very low.

My daily routine tends to be primarily 'making progress' on the motorway (aka the 30 mile private runway) with a bit of town riding at each end, but I get much the same on recreational bimbles, whether spirited or sedate.

Other people are probably better placed to comment on how I ride but I would have thought I fall somewhere near the middle of the spectrum. Perhaps my Scorpion stubby has magical fuel conserving properties?\\:D/

Sounds like this is quite normal then. Just thought it was odd as most threads I've read about Fuel Economy have always had people say the light came on at roughly the 120 mark. Oh well.

Going to ask a very stupid question but do you fill the bike up on its side stand or standing upright? As I fill mine standing upright and I get between 150 - 160 before the light comes on. It also depends on how you ride aswell

Upright. I sit on the bike as I'm filling up.

Always side stand to fill up off the bike, and about 160 to 170 miles before first light - 15mile each way commute on A roads.
