Starting problems
Morning, I will try to be brief and to the point, I have a SV650S on a 99 plate, usually it's as good as gold but recent starting problems have left me really frustrated, I have changed the starter solenoid, the regulator and the battery, but still there is an infuriating clicking noise from the right side middle ( where the starter is ) and I then have to jump start her from my only other form of battery which is my car, can anyone please help put me on the right track here if possible please. Kindest regards Ian.

Re: Starting problems
Hmmmmm, if it's a definite metal "clunk" sound it could be one of the gearsor shafts on to the main drive gear behind the rotor, but if it's a clicking, then look at the startermotor, either the exterior connecting or perhaps the interior one, could be a short, you'll need to take it apart and repair it, not hard to do, look to make sure the post is isolated from the casing.

Re: Starting problems
Hi Mark, thank you for the reply, I will take the time over the weekend to check the starter motor connections and make good if necessary however if this is not the case are there any usual problems associated with this machine gun type clicking coming from the starter solenoid area ?.

Re: Starting problems
yeah if it just clicks it's normally down to voltage, this can be anything from a poor battery to corroded terminals.
