Cheap Petrol Air Compressor - Anyone got any experience of these guys? LTS
 

I currently have a small Lidl/Aldi (I forget which) compressor and it's been a great little workhorse but I would LOVE a big compressor to live in the garage now that I have one..

Unfortunately I don't squillions of pounds, probably don't have enough for one of these but it's possibly achievable.

Anyone heard of them? Any experience of them?

Or is it better trying to find a belt driven 3hp one that can be powered from the mains?

Dont they need to be upward of 7hp just for painting?

EDIT: I know thats not the question asked Im just suprised one so big has such a poor rating... alternativly I could have my figures WAYYY out.

is that an SV engine on top?? :lol:

I'm sure the sprayer I'm using was running a 100l Clarke electric. Electric is easier and cleaner
Stretch can you get a supply from the breaker board?

Or THEY could have? It is cheap after all.

I'm just wondering if it cheap because:

A: It's made with the same good intentions but bad parts as Suzuki paint is
or
B: They just pricing to get in to the market before getting expensive?

The only thing I'll ever paint (if I ever get around to it) would be bike fairings, so nothing big anyway and other compressor might be used from outside to run an airfed mask if went down the 2K route but that's ages away anyway.


There is a standard socket fitted in the garage, I need to try and bribe my Dad (he's a sparkie now) to come down to fit a couple more sockets around the walls and to fit two more strip lights, there is only one in there and it's not very good and in a stupid position

Also they may have been using a 'gurt biggun' on a three phase supply instead of a standard houshold plug.

It was purely a numbers game, I think the most you can run from a standard socket is 3hp.

Petrol compressors are great... when you need one.
Otherwise get electric as less hassle.


Orrr build a big monstrous bank system so you only need to run the compressor rarely.

Quite possible to get an electric start version of those chinese engines and make it automatic. Depends what you want and how much hassle you are prepared to go for.

The compressors are OK, but they're chinese, tend to be engineered ok-ish, but the more finicky parts of the system will be monkey metal rubbish. Machine mart etc is no better though
