Birds
Don't forget to feed them. Hang out some feeders, sweep away a patch of snow and put out some scraps and some fresh water which you need to keep topped up when it freezes.
They'll repay you by eating the slugs and grubs in summer. |

Well said. I'll pass on your message to the Mrs.

Topped off my feeders this afternoon in readiness.

Re: Birds
Always keep them topped up feeders / table near the window so I can watch when bored.

Re: Birds
I feed them all the time but I know when there's a few inches of snow outside and you are staying tucked up in the warm it can be easy to forget our little feathered friends.
I've just cleared out the fridge while I defrost the freezer and tomorrow morning they can have all the cheese, ham and fruit bread that is a day or two out of date as well as their usual seed and suet mix. |

Re: Birds
Right down here on the south coast we have no snow, I wish the birds would eat from our feeders, they always end up having to have the old rotten food emptied out before we refill them. Any ideas how to make the birds eat from our feeders, we have a lovely mature garden, I suppose it could be that they get enough from the trees and bushes anyway.

Re: Birds
The only time we have not had birds feeding was at a different house and that was due to cats.

Re: Birds
With us peanuts go quickly (yesterdays have gone, the collared doves eat the lot) on the main bird table but not the hanging baskets or hanging table.
