help in finding good hotel

It's Mr Woozle birthday at the end of the month and I wanted to take him away, I fancy Liverpool or York. Ideally somewhere with lots to do in the day.

I was looking at http://www.hotelindigoliverpool.co.uk/ it looks fab but there is no sauna, pool etc which i would like.

Has anyone stayed in a hotel and been amazed ?
indigo has a Michelin star restaurant which is tempting

Help ! Need to book sooner rather than later ;)

If you want a pool (& a sauna I think), then the Radisson Blu in Liverpool has these facilities. Most of the celebs stay there. Rooms are similar to the Indigo, but its been there a while. Nice views if you get a room overlooking the river.

Has a nice restaurant, I've not eaten there at night too expensive for my overnight subsistence rates.

The Hotel Indigo is the newest, but none of the rooms have any views, unless they're at the front, I think. Then its just a view of the street outside.

The other one that's new, is the Hilton, right next to Liverpool One, never stayed there, but it is in a great location. Not far from everything

The Radisson used to be our preferred choice, but that was on Govenment rate for the room, but we prefer the Staybridge suites in Liverpool, as suits our needs better, but doesn't have the facilities you want.

Cool

If you're not a veggie, there's a great Argentinian steak house just down the road a bit.

Beatles museum is 10 mins walk, as is the other museum, can't remember what its called, but our bit is in the cellar.

As a frequent visitor I think the city has improved immensely in the 15 years since I've been going there.

Plenty of places to eat and plenty of traditional pubs, ie non chain ones

When you going Shell?

EDIT - I just saw, end of the month. If he's into his footy, you might want to take him to Jamie Carragher's Sports Bar - he can watch the Carling Cup final in there!

It looks like you've booked the Radisson, I was going to advise to steer clear of the Malmaison and give a +1 to the Hilton. It's a typical Hilton, but is bang on for everything you need location wise.

Strange, I haven't heard anything bad about the Malmaison, but I've not stayed there so I can't comment on it.

I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza but swapped rooms after complaining about noisy air con, only to find my new room had the same problem!

When I stayed at the Radisson, I met Bjorn Borg & Greg Rusedski in the lift, both said hello, unlike Cilla Black who was not a lorra laughs.

You tend to get Dutch & Norwegian Liverpool fans staying there, but I've never had a bad night there because of them.

I have booked the Raddison blu ..... we only there for a night, so sure we can entertain ourselves if its bad.

I have asked a local (speedy cough cough) who says its nice so will give it a go

He, unfortunately, is into his footie but I can leave him in that bar and sneak off to meet Speedy ha ha.

I can't wait, its really for Mr Woozle honest ;-)

Big Tv screen in the bar Shel, usually shows the footie, so he'll be happy, whilst you escape.

Park in Pall Mall NCP car park, short walk from ze 'otel and park where the CCTV cameras cover, not in the dark corners.

We've never had any problems, but this is what the car park guys told us to do when overnight parking.

This service was brought to you by Independent trip advisor :smt040

Ok men of the org ..... I have arranged a night in hotel for other half and am obviously gonna pay for all food and stuff we do while in Liverpool. Mr woozle has to be back in home town on the Saturday for plans he had before we were together.

My question is ..... for my first birthday with hin I wanted to do something he can remember and its not gonna be cheap BUT I haven't physically bought him a present. Would you be expecting a pressy too ?

Dont want a disappointed fella.
