First aid for bikers - update
I'm rubbish because I promised to sort this out last year and didn't but I've just done my refresher and the trainer asked if we were still interested. So here's the deal.
A 3 hour first aid course to take place at Lord's in St John's Wood. It would be 2 hours of the basics that apply most to bike accidents: How to give CPR (useful in any emergency situation, e.g. stroke, heart attack, electric shock, drowning) using that very attractive doll with no arms. Plus: Head injuries Spinal injuries Broken bones Blood loss Burns caused by hot engines etc. Crush injuries Petrol in the eye Deep grazes and cuts But he would then do an hour at the end to answer any specific questions about bike injuries and would also give us any advice we wanted about other first aid matters such as what do do if someone has a heart attack or a stroke which is always useful stuff to know. The cost is £35 per person and we'd need a minimum of 6 people, maximum if 16. I would need payment in advance to secure the trainer. That may sound a lot but it's cheaper than if you did it with someone like St John's partly because we won't get a swanky certificate but also because Lord's have kindly said I can use a room here free of charge. Plus, it may save someone's life and that is worth every penny. Just ask Chris Numbers! Lord's is near St John's Wood Station, and also only ten minutes walk from Baker Street, or you can come by car or bike as we have parking. I would arrange the course at a time to suit - say 6.30 - 9.30pm on probably a Monday or Tuesday night unless we wanted to do a Friday pre-Soho. It would be open to Orgers but if you wanted to bring a friend then as long as they pay they can come. Please can you add your name below if you are interested. Plus give an indication of which days you prefer. |

Re: First aid for bikers - update
I would be interested for sure. Dirt biking and adventure riding is a lot less likely to kill you than riding on the road, but I would say it's a lot more likely to cause some of the injuries you've mentioned above, and when it happens, your nowhere near anywhere accessible by an ambulance. Then of course there's road riding too.
I can do any day pretty much and tie work appointments in London to match, I just need to know far enough in advance that I can get in the diary before I'm booked to go somewhere other than London (usually 3 weeks). 1.
