Might even make a profit taking your bike over there then selling it. And as they ride on the same side as we do, theres no mods needed that I am aware of :) |
Re: bike to nz
I was in a similar scenario, but with OZ 18 months or so back. The results of my extensive research were, if you can afford it, stick UK bike in a friend's garage here, then buy a 2nd hand bike out there, use it and then sell it before your return. If you can't afford that, sell UK bike and use that to buy the NZ bike. Then take the cash from the NZ bike to buy another bike in the UK.
The cost of crating will be enough to offset the depreciation you'd get on a 2nd hand bike out there in 6-9 months. EDIT: As soulkiss says, do be prepared to spend more on a bike out there. Given the biking roads, warm weather and close proximity to Japan, I have no reason why, but anything other than small capacity dirt bikes are much more spendy in Australasia. |
Re: bike to nz
It will be quite costly to ship a bike there and ship it back after 6-8months. I would price up shipping it out and selling there bearing in mind any import taxes etc. Otherwise buy a bike there and sell up again.

Re: bike to nz
Yep, buy out there and sell it before you leave. Then go ride the entire South Island. And smile.
I got my bike licence 6 months after returning from a year in New Zealand - I will be going back at some point! |

Re: bike to nz
The west coast is similar, reminds me a lot but the south island is just awesome. Great roads, big, snow capped mountains, glaciers that come down to sea level, cheap fuel......... Sandflies instead of the Scottish Midge.

If you end up in Auckland, you need to go for a ride up the Coromandel Peninsula :) |
