New brake pads not fitting.
Have just bought a set of new pads (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISA...E:B:EF:GB:1123) and they're not quite fitting my '99 curvy.
Problem is the bit circled in this pic, which sits on the spring in the caliper. On the new pads it's bigger than on the old ones, though otherwise everything is exactly the same size. I can get the pin in but it's tight and I have to force the pad down onto the spring to do it, which really doesn't seem right. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10861049/sv6...800x600%29.jpg Also have a few rusty spots inside the pistons - is that anything to worry about? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10861049/sv6...800x600%29.jpg |
Re: New brake pads not fitting
at a glance looks like the spring plate is out of shape, can you pull it out and bend it uniform and reseat it?
No real problem with rust/marks on inside of pistons, |
Re: New brake pads not fitting.
Cheers Dave. The spring plate looks exactly like the other one, and it seems like it's supposed to be more bent on one side as there's a groove that the more bent bit sits in. Taking it out to check it and putting it back in again seems to have fixed it though, so it looks like it was just lack of eptness on my part.
