Dunlops vs Michelins?
Need to put a good set of 'all rounder' tyres on , good in the dry, good grip in th wet .. but which to choose ?!
Dunlop Road Smarts ? -> is '2' the latest ?? Michelin Pilot Roads ? -> is '3' the latest ?? What do you run as a good all round tyre ? Also where in the NW would you suggest - is Sharples in Bolton still going, or has anyone experiance of Tony Salt in Warrington ..? |
Re: Dunlops vs Michelins
Moved to bike talk as not listed anything for sale.

Re: Dunlops vs Michelins?
Both the tyres you listed are the latest versions, both are reported to be fantastic in all conditions but don't dismiss the older roadsmarts or pilot road 2's, they are also both really good tyres that grip in all conditions and you should be able to get a bargain on either.
How do you ride? The roadsmarts are reported to be more sporty (tip in a bit faster) than the Pilots. |
Re: Dunlops vs Michelins?
I'm not what you would call a racer on the road, but I do like to have a bit of fun now and then - thought the speed the tyres tip in wont make much difference to me : might try the previous versions if I can find a decent bargain then --- thanks for that :)

Re: Dunlops vs Michelins?
Pr2's are good :D Edit there was a thread on this last week, apparently pr3's may warm up quicker and not last quite as long.

Re: Dunlops vs Michelins?
I'm running the Roadsmarts and they have been great. They've been on for over a year now and have loads of grip in the wet, more than the Roadattacks and Bt020's I had before. The mixed compound also makes them last well.

This review suggests the Dunlop outperforms the pr3's & bt023's

Re: Dunlops vs Michelins?
Go to your nearest/friendliest/favourite colour of tyre supplier, ask them which sports touring tyres they sell for the least amount of money, buy those ones.
ALL modern tyres are excellent, and significantly better than we are. |
