Accelerated access test / to remove restrictor?

Hi all,

I was under the impression I could do an accelerated access course once I turn 21 (in June) to be able to remove my restrictor. I can't find any information on this.. can anyone shed any light on the situation please?

Thanks

Accelerated Access - Group A
This is for people who already hold the A2 category motorcycle licence but have reached 21 yrs. and don't want to wait for their 2-year restriction to end. The re-test is the same as for Direct Access but you don't need a CBT or Theory test to simply upgrade and if you fail, don't panic ! You still keep your existing licence.

Direct Access - Group A
For an unrestricted motorcycle licence, you need to be over 21 yrs. old. You can then take your test on a motorcycle that's over 46 bhp. We use 500cc machines, presently Honda CBF500's. After passing this test you can ride any bike you like straight away !

Not sure why I couldn't find that. So I have to do a 3 day course? Man that's annoying! And sound expensive!

Any idea how much it costs?

Ring a local training place for costs would be a good start. How long you got to go on your restriction?

Yeah guess I will have to do that. Only passed the full test a couple of months ago, but didn't fancy riding a 125 until June when I turn 21, wanted it out the way so did it early; so almost 2 years left on the restriction! Not a chance am I riding this restricted for that long when I turn 21 in less than 3 months. I'll just have to pay the extra and do the accelerated access course/test :)

Cheers for the help guys.

Good job you passed before the new rules come in next year or you would have had to do two or three tests and be 24 not 21 as the two year restriction isn't an automatic upgrade anymore :(

I don't think you need to do a course, you just do the same test as you would have done for direct access. The issue is getting an appropriate bike with the right insurance, hence most end up going through a school but they might just do a one day special if your riding is up to it.

You just need to do the mod1 and mod2, not a three day course.

:study::thumright:

Having never been restricted how bad is it as i thought it only removed a bit of top end power? Maybe for another thread.
