Doh! Grease the soft link next time.
 

I bought a heavy duty x-ring DID chain and new sprockets last year. When I fitted it I forgot to grease the rivetted link and consequently it wore the bushes in the links through which it located. :smt053

I was going to see if I could locate a short length of the same type of chain, about a dozen links or so, and using two rivetted links replace a section of the chain to include the worn links.

Then I remembered fitting a new 525 x-ring Iris chain to my 400 gixer just before going on my big European jaunt on it back in 2009. The chain has only done around 5000 miles and is still in perfect condition. A quick call to Bitzforbikes secured the correct Iris soft link, I removed 4 links from the chain to bring it down to the required 108 links, and after a good clean in a tub of paraffin it's now sitting on the bench waiting for the arrival of the new link tomorrow.

I want it done by tomorrow evening as I'm off out for the day on a ride on Wednesday.
