New Job
Got me self a new job :), started applying about a week ago after being told by my manager for a 4th year running I wouldn't be getting a rise or review untill the end of the year despite completion of several qualifications and taking on more responsibilities.
I have basically been on the same salary as I started on 5 years ago even though I progressed and gained technical qualifications off my own back. I applied for a job role that required some qualifications I don't have and didn't have all the experience listed. I smashed the first interview and then went back for the second round and had to do a technical presentation not long after I got a call asking me when I can start :) Anyway they're starting me on a lower salary than advertised but they're going to put me through all the qualification they listed on the job spec. The other good news is that its hell of a lot more pay and means my partner will now be able to stay off work and look after our new baby instead or returning to work while he is only 5 Months old :D And I just won 15 quid on a scratch card ! :D Ant, PS Don't post anything on Facebook just yet ta :) |

Re: New Job
Yeah, good for you. It's very rare nowadays for people in IT to be able to climb the ladder quickly within one organisation. I've seen that people have to move between companies, keeping their qualifications current and moving to where the technology and job prospects are the best.
Good luck and good that you don't have to go down the childminder route. |
Re: New Job
Congrats mate, that's great news!
I'm in a very similar situation in terms of review etc and it gets more frustrating by the day! |

Re: New Job
Congrats! Switching jobs seems to be the easiest way to get a raise these days, especially in IT. :)
