Isn't it something to do with carrying your own with you, two ideally so you still have one left if you get stopped and have to use one. I think?

you have to have two on you. If i remember right they have to be French Authority approved, and it is in place from already, however i don't think you can be fined until later on in the year

I assumed the OP had some common sense and would avoid the piston head type results.

none the less, thanks for taking the time to post.

Re: Breathalyser in France?

Comes in on July 1st. All vehicles except mopeds. You have to have at least one working (unused) tester with the vehicle, note that the limit is lower than in the UK anyway.

They must be French approved. They are sold in pairs, supermarkets have them (or will have anyway), a couple of Euros a pair apparently. The ferries will have them, probably at something of a premium but may be convenient.

Prosecutions won't come in until later in the year for not carrying, but I'd bet there'll be some spot checks going on near the ferry terminals in July, so save the hassle and get a pair.

......the French, bless 'em.

Is anyone else getting fooked off with all this French crap? I was quite happy making France my euro tour country of choice. But I feel like I wouldn't want to go back there any more. And I think my bike is too old to get in towns now anyway. Seems like they are really shooting themselves in the foot in terms of tourism.

Shame because I really like France and can actually speak a little French. Plus it's one of the easiest hot foreign countries to get to :(
