Recommisioning a bike?

I have been given a Yam TW125 that has been stood for nearly 2 years. Possible winter hack / custom / field bike. Had an MOT just before this so should be structurally OK. But has spent some time near the sea! Parked up daily at a pier next to the Clyde before it was put away in the back of the garage.

What is the mighty org's suggestions I should do before attempting to fire it up? Is it worth stripping and cleaning the carb, pulling plug out and lubing the bore first? Want to get it running before I spend time and money on it.

Yep, clean the carb for certain, and take plug out an leave some lub in the bore in overnight at least, longer the better.

Once you've lubed it, see if it'll turn over by hand first

Pour a teaspoon full of oil down the bore and leave it a bit then kick over a bit.
Won't hurt it.

Fresh plug, clean the carb. Be reet.

Replace all the old fuel as it is probably well contaminated after 2+years
