Pointy throttle troubles
 

I knOw I may sound like a spanner , but my sv was my first bike and after taking it out a few runs she got a little dirty so I decided to (power wash) the bike
Little did I know that was a bad idea ,

Ever since then , my Sv has been junting when I accelerate quite hard or try to overtake , it's worse in second gear cause boy does she take off after a few shudders , gives me a little scare everytime , can't be ready for it lol

Was wondering if anyone has had the same problem or could identify it for me

A few people said ride it on it will dry out , but nothing's changed , and ye bike doesn't feel safe when coming out of corners I have the fear se might jolt and throw

Which bike have you got?

This would help.

But anyway, I reckon it's got water in it somewhere, (other than the cooling system for all you Smart Alecs out there).

Obvious place to look is the plugs/caps, if it's a component somewhere, good luck.

Oh sorry thought pointy ment the new style of sv

It's an 04 sv650. I've added full ferrings to it

more than likely front plug syndrome.

Done , my dad could of fixed it if he was still here lol , but unfortunatly he's not

i live in northern ireland , county antrim , dont see many Sv's about here , lots of biking over here tho

my uncle has been riding many years and he said it could be the carb , dirt and water just needs drained , and theirs a screw just in under the carb loosen it up and it drains out , and possibly change spark plugs

alot of people said it would dry out after a few runs but it hasnt happend , its not just as bad now but its still shuddering pretty bad


(i havnt done this yet) i look at my bike and go ??????????? lol.... i know the carb is below the tank , its quite tricky to get at by looking at it , so are the plugs D:

going to have a look and see if i can get the front plug out and drain the carb and clean it out , will get some wd 40 and dry off the plug ,
dont have any spare but i can get some

bike starts no problem , its just when riding shes chugging when acelerating

ok so rang my other gs motorcycles , and spoke to the guy i sort of know , was quite helpfull said all u need to do is clean out the head and maybe dry out the sparks , said we could do it would take about hour and half about 55£ if you want , or you could do it your self up to you

there is no drain on the pointy as its throttle bodies and injection.

for the price of a pair of plugs get yerself a new pair. there is a drain hole at the bottom right hand side (as you sit on the bike) of the front cylinder. get a wd40 or similar straw and poke it up in there to make sure that it's clear. remove the front plug and replace with new one. when putting the plug cap back on smear a little silicon grease round the flange edge of the plug cap, this will stop water getting in again. you can also fit a 'crap flap' to the mudguard which helps a lot.

ok so i took my ferrings off , had a little fiddle couldnt get the cap off one of the plugs , i couldnt catch that drain hole ., i did find one hole and poked it , decided to fit bike together - ferrings and take it for a ride

problem seems to have eased off a bit , its not jolting as much maybe because i took the ferings out it helped dry out ?

im going to change plugs tomorrow , wouldnt of matterd if i got them out today lol , my dads got a few plugs lying there but they are for a gsx 1400

a friend aka a race bike mechanic offerd to take the carb apart and clean it for me completly , hopefully the plugs will sort the problem tho as i cant sell the bike if it continues to have this problem , also (oops) scratched the ferring a little taking it off -.-


is it just me or is the sv a hell of alot quicker without ferrings ? i was getting better speeds on same roads and getting their quicker , maybe it is just in my head tho lol ^_^
