How much fork oil?
Morning All
Simple question: How much fork oil (in Litres) do I need to buy to service my front forks? Also i want them to be a bit stiffer what weight of oil do people recommend? |
Re: Fork Oil
Haynes book of lies says,
Fork oil capacity for x,y and k1 is 489cc for euro model and 491cc for usa Fork oil capacity for k2 is 478cc for euro model and 480 for usa HTH |
Re: Fork Oil
I gather 489cc is the same as 489ml?
|
Re: Fork Oil
one cc is a cubic centimeter (1cm x 1cm x 1cm)
one litre is a cubic decametre (10cm x 10cm x 10cm) or 1000 cc one ml is one mililitre or 1/1000 of a litre or 1cc! So yes, they are the same. I did have to google for sure though ;) |
Re: Fork Oil
I thought that was the case, just wanted to make sure though, cheers.

Re: Fork Oil
yep, unless you spill it all over the show a 1 liter bottle should do a pair of forks
|
Re: How much fork oil?
Cool, thanks guys, what weight oil would you use, I want them to be slightly stiffer as they a quite wallowy at the moment
|
Re: How much fork oil?
Wallowy in what sense?
|
Re: How much fork oil?
Just seem to dive loads under braking, previous owner has raised the forks thru the yokes by 10mm or so, so mudguard bashes the front fairing under emergency braking conditions I don't want a huge difference just something a little firmer.
