CBR immobiliser problems

For my CBR, in order to start the bike the key must be turned to ON and then the fob attached to the key must be pressed to deactivate the immobiliser.
Anyways, its pretty much stopped working, only working intermittently.

I have recently taken the fairing off to clean around the engine, so could I have disturbed something?
Or what checks should I make prior to booking it into a Honda specialist?
