Shock linkage play question

My bike- 2001 SV650s, 32k miles.

Yesterday i started my suspension work. When removing the shock the first nut and bolt i undid was the dogbone at the swing arm. With the dogbones hanging from the cushion lever and everything still bolted up i could grab the lever and move it side to side a mm or 2 each way. I took it all off and the front bearing had a little chip of stone in it. I'm not sure if it was there before or only after i took the bush out. The needle rollers of the front bearing seem a little gritty and crunchy even after cleaning but they are much better. And under visual inspection and poking with my finger they seem fine. But then I'm not sure what fine is!!!

Really i need to know if a bit of play is ok?

Here a link to easily show you what parts im talking about.

I think the axial movement is fine as long as there's no real raidal movement
