What are clip ons?
E.g. http://www.renthal.com/File/product1...tid=&tabtype=1
What are they and what do they do? I've seen the phrase been used a fair bit and I've googled but can't seem to find a clear explanation of the benefits they bring, so an explanation would be appreciated. Cheers!! :smt066 |
Re: Clip ons
clip ons are a shorter/lower version of handlebars, they save weight and get your upper body lower on a bike (into a racing crouch), the more adjustable ones allow you to customise the riding position, a progression for the classic "ace bars" of the 50-60's; which were one piece, clip ons are normally two part and rather than using the yoke clamp, fix around the top of the forks

Re: Clip ons
Ahh right ok thanks for that, makes sense. They worth buying in your opinion? What's a typical cost for a decent set out of interest?

Re: Clip ons
if you're racing a bike then it can help with control, but the non adjustable ones (as fitted to the faired SV) are probably fine, I'm a bit old for that type of riding position these days and prefer the upright postion standard handlebars provide, so up to you, but if you don't have a problem; probably better ways to spend your money :smt102

Re: What are clip ons?
SV-S has clip ons anyway.
Those are just fancy ones that look a lot lower. Someone probably sells some that are same rise as stock if you want fancy billet stuff. |
Re: What are clip ons?
Fair one. Cheers for the info :)
