Andy

How well tooled is your garage?

AndyBrad 25-06-12 08:15 PM

If I don't have it I have access to it. Apart from welding.

I built a Spartan in 1984. You need a big tool kit that's for sure. The instructions were not very comprehensive, one line said "now fit engine, gearbox and drive train"

Libra is nice but big ££ I'm after either a lotus 7 replica or a classic car. My main worry is driving in the rain with a 7. Just not sure how it would work

Came down to collect an entire 1800 silvertop zetec plus shiiit loads of other bits (inc gearbox, manifolds, looms, injectors etc.)

Kinda learned after about 18 months of persistence I'd rather be out driving or riding whatever vehicles I have than sat in a garage swearing at seized bits of metal. Not satisfying at all..

In terms of the 7 replica's there's a lot out there to choose from buddy. There's the traditional home build locost's and the newer haynes roadsters which are inspired by the haynes 'build your own kitcar...' books. Then there's the actual kit companies like Dax, Robin Hood, Tiger, MK.. lots and lots of companies out there who've designed there own versions of the 7..

This one's for sale for £3650: http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-m...lica/104549195

Or just above your budget this MK Indy with an R1 engine in it:

(see also, kit car classifieds on PistonHeads: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/index.asp?c=70)

If I could have any kitcar it'd be a MEV Sonic 7 (uses ford focus as a donor, 1.8 or 2.0 petrol, engine mounted in the rear)
