Lifting the front off the ground? - Curvy.

Hello again guys and gals,

Whats the best way to get the front of my Curvy off the ground. Need to do some paintwork on the fork lowers and the wheel so want to pull the wheel off. Any suggestions on a product to support my icke Curvy while I do this that's not gonna kill my bank balance.....

Cheers

I used ratchet straps over a roof timber in the garage when I had forks off recently.

Also had a trolley jack under the engine as back up/stability but be careful where you locate this if you use one.

NWS stand + bottle jack or front headstock stands (cheep on ebay) are the best.
Or you could put bike on sidestand then put a bottle jack with plank of wood on top under the engine and secure it from the other side (this is not very safe but dooable if you are carefull).

Abba stand and a trolley jack under front.

Engine on, bike into first, clutch out and twist the throttle hard ;)

Has anyone got any experience of the lifts that fit into the bottom of the triple clamp? Currently I use trolley jack or axle stands but would rather use something that's less likely to go through the bottom of the engine casing.

Lifts that fit to the bottom of the forks are cheaper but then you can't get your forks out. Anyone ever lifted a naked SV1000 using one of the headstock lifters? Did anything get in the way?

Bargain <here> if you're quick and can get to Burnley to collect!

Yes i have one (from ebay) works fine but you have to either put the rear on a stand too or make sure you do not knock the front stand sideways or the bike starts to tilt and fall but its never happened to me.

I use a rear paddock and a trolley jack under the engine, always have. Very unlikely that it will ever go through the bottom on the engine.

I use a rear paddock (motrax/ oxford item) and a front paddock from these http://www.ricambiweiss.de/product_i...ko2b4pjhckk9q1

The exchange is in your favour so is about £40 for a headstock stand

or this set for 70 euros http://www.ricambiweiss.de/product_i...ko2b4pjhckk9q1
