Horn stops working when engine hot.

The horn stops working at a certain temp, it seems to be around 88 degrees and above. I need to get this sorted asap as I'm commuting down the great west road in bad traffic, any muppet in a cage who decides to swing out in front of me can't be warned I'm there. I gather this is a known issue, is there a solid fix/alternative to this as I'm not wanting to get ploughed off my bike. Two near misses this morning which could of been avoided if I could give a little beep. :(

Re: lethal horn issue! Help!

Halfords do a twin Fiam set for about £20. I took the existing horn supply to drive a relay and fitted the horns onto the lower radiator brackets.

Loud and great fun watching the MOT guy jump one a year!

This is well known, do a search and you'll find plenty to read.

okey doke, I'm in no way electrically minded but I'll give that a shot. Luckily my housemate is a sparky so I'm sure we can sort it between us haha. Can't believe how inefficient something as important as a horn is on these bikes!

The horn's rubbish even when it does work. When I want a horn I want an "OI LOOK THIS WAY" kind of noise not a "sorry to bother you but please consider glancing in my general direction if it's not too much effort" pathetic beep.

I moved my horn from the radiator (which caused it to get hot and stop working) to the fork. However it is still the lamest sounding horn in the world and is frankly embarrassing. :D

Moving the horn required a small addition to the wire to allow it to reach the new place, but this was easy. ;-)

One of the few things we have going for us in Norway is that we don't have MOT's for bikes, and only every second year for cars, so I removed my horn.....

Fantastic, why not take off your brakes and loosen your wheel nuts too?

Why one earth would you chose to take off something that may stop some numpty taking you out?

If the horn is the thing that will stand between you and a numpty taking you out YOU are doing something VERY WRONG. You compare brakes and wheel nuts with a horn....That's just sad.
