Sell by dates on beer
Just been rummaging under the stairs and there is all the old beer and stuff from times ago.
The bottled stuff like peroni, bud, grolsh etc has sell by dates between 2006 and 2009. The spirits are much older. There is a 1L pernod unopened, though its 30 years old. Do you reckon I should just bin it all or is it suitable for barbie fodder, and do spirits have a drink by date? |
Re: Sell by dates on beer
ermm as far as i'm aware spirits don't have a sell by. beer on the other hand does and will turn to vinegar. crack a few open and try them, you will so know if they are off.

Re: Sell by dates on beer
If they've been kept cool and dark that will extend the lifespan. I just found a bottle of port in the garage. It was 20 years old when I was given it as a gift in 95.

Beer try and taste |
Re: Sell by dates on beer
So long as it's just your guests drinking it, who cares? ;) One of my mates had some old Strongbow once, which he'd left by a window (constantly warmed up in the sun, then cooled). Needless to say it made him very ill and our house smelled bad for days!

Re: Sell by dates on beer
From past experience:
Beer last much better in glass bottles than in it does in cans. If in cans then throw it. |
Re: Sell by dates on beer
If its cans throw it, had some bad experiences with out of date beer.
