H+r insurance and restricted license Grrh
 

They now request one month into my insurance that i prove that my bike is restricted, thats going to set me back £55, £40 for the dyno, £15 for fuel to get it sorted... oh & miles added onto my already low allowance.

Like with police.. they have to prove it isnt restricted, you dont go getting charged for the dyno run, do you?
so why would i have to prove that its restricted and fork out when they didnt state when taking the policy out that i had to provide proof of restriction... & what does it prove... its a ecu, it takes 2 mins to swap :rolleyes:

(It is fitted & staying fitted till my restriction is up by the way people)

Iv asked insurance so far if they would accept the ecu code in bike signed off by a garage/& or/police officer stating its fitted.. they replyed - no, we want a dyno run as proof...as they can't say if its restricted or not.
surely suzuki' restricted 33bhp ecu's arnt faulty ayyy guys??

I just think this is abit over the top... im not rich being a young student & £5 is alot of money for myself nevermind £55 -- any idea's or help? if not its just another one of my ramble's enjoy :notworthy:

have you said your happy for them to get your bike dyno'd at their expence, as it was not stated at time of taking out the policy

Can you not just get a restriction certificate? Did you not get one with ecu?

Sounds like guilty before being proven innocent. If they want it proven then they should be paying for it. Plus as above do you have a certificate to prove they fitted it??

again as has been said, you should of had a certificate of fitting.

I would say yes but at your expense, however they will probably just cancel your insurance, insurance companies can be ********s

you can get certs from ebay for £15

hell i will even nock you one up using an old fi international one i happen to have kicking round

nah its aright thanks, i got the ecu & fitted it myself as the job is 2mins like i said im a student, aha & iv also explained that i didnt get told about this before in the policey when i purchased the insurance & too right i shouldnt have to prove myself innocent at my express :smt095

Can you not just send them a photo with the ECU in place showing the part number?...assuming that there is one visible. Surely, in the event of a claim they aren't gong to dyno it...the engineer is just going to check the correct ecu is there.

Do they specify the means of proof, or just ask for 'proof it is restricted'

I'm not restricted, but this is something that keeps coming up and everyones response seems to be...tell them to get stuffed or get it dyno'd...is the photo route a viable option?

If I say my bike is blue, they say it's black, I don't need to take it to a colour chemist and pay them to wright a note, I'd just send them a photo with something dated on it in shot (say a newspaper)

They are asking for far too much. Blow them out and change companies. If this was not asked for at time of taking insurance out then they are at fault and they can cancel the policy with no financial penalty to you.

Most companies IME are not bothered about asking for or proving your bike is restricted. Your licence restricts you and they know this when you give them your details.

yes, i explained that to them.. i said it was fine if they wanted to send somebody over and check the bike over and get it dyno'd at there expense.

I told them i would get a garage to write down the ecu number and sign it saying its in there & i would also ask a police officer to conform the ecu numbers. & i know what you mean, the insurance are just going :offtopic:

I know adding on expense after already paying the premium upfront, yeah they have told me they are going to cancel it if i dont get them a dyno result sheet of proof of restriction within so many days. have to deal with it then..:smt021

or i could become a :smt032 xD
