Hate to be a keyboard warrior but if I'd have seen the crash and the way they were driving in the run-up to it, I really do think I would have dragged the f***er out of his car and tried to end his life there and then.

wonder what the punishment would of been had a biker not a car that caused the death. That sentence is a joke.

Yup - even though bikers very rarely harm anyone but themselves.

If you read the full details, they were swerving onto pavements to get past traffic and run red lights. Absolutely mental - properly narrow little residential roads round there too.

The sentences seem lenient, but the maximum prison sentence for Dangerous Driving seems to be 2 years (http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/s_to_u/s...erous_driving/) so 16 months after pleading guilty is a heavy sentence as you normally get something like 50% reduction for pleading guilty. It seems to be a paltry sentence for an offence that has had such a devastating outcome for the biker though.

However it civil action for compensation etc will reflect the severity of his injuries. I hope it is far in excess of the £25m in the other thread, but he does not have rich parents able to afford top lawyers....

It's cases like this that make folks cry sentences are too light, but remember the max. sentence is two years for DD so not much more the judge could give. Also remember that speeders caught going very fast are often charged with DD when no one was hurt.... imagine your outrage if a biker was given 5 years for speeding if the maximum sentence was higher? Be careful what you wish for.

I hope the victim makes a good recovery.

I too will be very interested in the compensation this guy gets.I wonder if it will be anywhere near the £23 million package the unfortunate girl got.
As for the criminals,I cant see why they get a different sentence because the victim didnt die.If he had they would have been looking at six years or so,but for exactly the same bit of outrageous criminal driving they get lucky.

You know, I was just thinking the same thing. The usual ball park figure seems to be circa 100k for nasty bike accidents, obviously dependant on the severity if injuries. I can pretty much guarantee he got nowhere near 23m, poor fella.
