Radio background music - Faves?
I work from home quite a bit these days and usually have the radio on. More recently I've been listening to online radio stations from Itunes.
Does anyone else have any recommendations for good Itunes radio stations for background listening? Mostly I'm currently listening to AmbianceLounge in the mornings and TopBlues in the afternoons with Chris Evans on Radio 2 first thing and the occasional Radio 4 session but given there are about a gazillion and nine stations I'm sure there are some goodies I'm missing. Criteria... Nothing you have to concentrate on (so no talk/comedy) No Rap. No Euro pop. Nothing that has anything to do with any x-factor garbage No angst ridden Seattle garage bands No truly mad Jazz Nothing too "invasive" Anyone got any tips? |

I usually listen to Radio 2, but occasionally I pop over to Planet Rock. They give you a mix of songs from the last 30/40 yrs.
Although Sky give you an abundance of radio channels too. |

And... why do DnB DJs have to constantly fade in "Shouts to the scrote krew" Not on R2 of course! |
Re: Radio background music - Faves?
Jeremy Vine is ok when you are driving, but I wouldn't listen in the house.
I don't like Radio 1, its terrible, and I'm not keen on local radio stations as its full of guff. Although, it is rather amusing watching my two year old doing the Gangnam style and singing in Korean :) Got to catch him on vid yet though |
Re: Radio background music - Faves?
I like the Absolute Radio site. There's 80's, 90's, classic rock and so on...

Problem is far too many ads on Absolute. I do like the Dave Gorman pod casts though. I have a few to catch up with but unfortunately it's now come to an end. Dave Gorman is my preferred podcast for the train to work.

I listen in the van so only have normal stations but I usually listen to jack fm.
Used to listen to 'the breeze' when it first rebranded but now it's just gone normal and boring like all the other stations. |
Re: Radio background music - Faves?
I listen to jack also but they constantly play the same songs day in and day out so stopped. However the past 2 weeks that I've switched back they seem to have got a better playlist.
On digital I like planet rock but the adds can get annoying and also like real xs (i think?...... its 106.1 when your passing manchester land) they do a 30 min non stop music at some points in the day. |

The only thing that pizzes me off about R2 is hearing the record of the week more than once a day, plus the others on the playlist. I will be entering pop master one day |

LOL, I did say 'ok' in the car, in which I mean, I don't spend much time in it, so can be tolerated for a short period!
One slot I find hilarious is on Thursday nights, I think?. The amount of time I've turned on the radio and been greeted by something that could only be played in an old cinema or Blackpool Tower ballroom! Organ playing makes me giggle. :) |
