Major oil leak - CCT related?
 

The other day I needed to replace the rear CCT on my curvy SV, and while I was at it I took the front one out to check it was working fine.

Got about 2 miles down the road and realised I was riding along in a cloud of smoke and that my bike had virtually emptied itself of oil.

Then realised that I had forgotten to put the end cap/bolt on the front CCT. Would that cause such a major oil leak?

Yes, it could do that. But make sure you haven't knackered the gasket as well.

Yep, all the spray off the camchain will get fired straight out of there. Whoopsie :-P

How much did it actually lose?

Sid, I've got a few spares so replacing it isn't a problem anyway.

Yorkie, just about everything! At least 2 litres anyway based on how much it took to fill it back up.

Ah well, we all make mistakes, I'm just glad I realised my bike was smoking a lot or I'd have ridden it dry.
