Ego Camera-Anyone used/heard of?

Spotted this in a mag and thought it looked ok. 1080 hd video with 12mp stills. Would like something like this for the Eurotrip we have planned.

It's a good price, although i'd prefer to go withthe current market leader and get a GoPro

The new version is out so maybe you could get the older version at a bargain price?

Yes but the size factor makes this so much more flexible than the go pro. Forget the bracket mounting, creative people can find so many ways to mount that badboy in many interesting places that would not work with the Pro. For me the pro is best when you want high quality footage but with a limited setup and will be more of a compromise. But the more adaptable cams are better for creative action footage and for a fraction of the price (assuming we're talking about using it on a bike).

Just as an aside, for a similar price point you can get a Contour Roam 2 which came out also just before Xmas.

Like the GoPro, mounts are quite easy to get hold of etc and this is a much more stylish (IMHO) option when helmet mounted. Just a thought.

Hmmm the ego/gopro form factor would be a lot easier to fit in a waterproof housing. Shame they're not cheaper, if they were £50 or so I'd be tempted to get some dive video.

My brother in law has the first version of that one he uses for his push bike. He has done a few road races and the quality looked pretty good.

Best thing about it IMO is that you can swivel the lens to horizontal and it's got little laser pointers to help you do that, so if your mount is slightly on the p15s you can still get a proper angle.

:-)

In which case the OP may want to consider the Drift HD. There are already quite a few orgers with the Drift cam which is more versatile than the Contour.

Contour has better quality but is more expensive. If expense is the major deciding factor then Go Pro or New Contour wouldn't be top of my list. For form factor the EGO looks great or an equivalent bullet cam. For all round use with a motorbike I recommend the Drift (newer version is smaller). For outright quality and other activities like YC's diving Go Pro is probably the best choice.

I was looking at the drift ghost last night, looks pretty much perfect for motorbike riding. Costly though
