SV1000 Restricted as standard?
One of the chaps on the RSV site has a SV1000 that wont go over 140 mph change from 5 th to 6 th bike will not go faster.
No threads on hear .Do uk or import ones have a restriction. |
Re: SV 1000 Restricted std?
Putting to one side that 140mph is a fair bit, that's way past what 33BHP will get you.
French bikes would be capped at 100BHP, but that's not a whole lot lower than standard. It's only supposed to do about 150ish new isn't it? Could be down to almost anything, maintenance (or lack thereof) included :) Jambo Edit: 6th gear is generally there for cruising and on standard gearing for most bikes won't get you much more speed than 5th as the bike usually doesn't have the power to rev out in top... |

When I used Rictus's private road 160 mph came up easy on the RSV? |
The SV thou isn't a fast bike, the engine is relatively low tuned.

Re: SV1000 Restricted as standard?
Mine has displayed at least a 5 in the second digit before now. K3 SV1000N
With normal gearing it'll be indicating a ton with the rev counter vertical at 6,500 revs in top. |
Re: SV1000 Restricted as standard?
His been asked to check the gearing ..
140 in 5th then goes into 6 th and speeds the same . So sounding like the gears too tall . I guess road touring a quiet good mpg affair . But it needs gearing for a track day . What are you running f &r sproket wise . |
Re: SV1000 Restricted as standard?
So far as I know it's all standard gearing. I've not changed it in the time I've had it. Guy I got it from said he used to have it geared lower but was too mad so put it back to standard again on his next sprocket change.
I've had no reason to count teeth or for that matter get access to the front sprocket. I think gearing is different between the N and S too. N geared for fun, S for top speed. |
