Throttle restriction needed?
Hey guys i got a 2005 sv650s and im on a restricted license, it is restricted by washer and throttle, but in every gear bar 5-6 it will top out so if i took out the throttle restriction it would still be legal cos it aint gunna produce no more than 33bhp still?

Re: Throttle restriction needed?
If it was actually restricted to 33bhp with just the washer, I doubt they would bother with the effort of further restricting the bike. So I'd guess removing the throttle restriction will take it over the limit, else they wouldn't bother fitting it.

Re: Throttle restriction needed?
But my point is, in first gear at 11,000rpm it must inly create 33bhp so in 5th gear at 11,000rpm it would still only create 33bhp, maybe the just stuck it in to stop your top end? Cause otherwise they would stop it from reviing in every gear

Yeah so it would be legal to take it out?

Re: Throttle restriction needed?
But at 11k In first gear your bike is overcoming about 40mph of air resistance, in 5th you're fighting 120mph theoretically. See this chart for theoretical top speeds of the sv .
Theoretical top speed at redline 1st gear 46 mph 2nd gear 67 mph 3rd gear 86 mph 4th gear 105 mph 5th gear 123 mph 6th gear 139 mph Your 33hp can't push the bike to rev out in the high gears. It simply has not got enough power. |
Re: Throttle restriction needed?
I'm not sure we're on the same page. I say get a 33bhp ecu and legally get the most from your bike :)

Re: Throttle restriction needed?
My bike has done 105 in 4th but at 5th the throttle restitor stops you from reving, i managed to get it to 110 in 5 on very long straight, but it more acceleration i wasnt anyway not top speed, i wanna be able to let it go from light or when rolling and not to be held back by a throttle restrictor

Re: Throttle restriction needed?
are you sure you're not running out of power? 110 from 33bhp is pretty good. The full 70+ bhp doesent indicate much past 140..

Re: Throttle restriction needed?
It might be but it hard to tell as the throttle seems to stop as the top speed does :/ (this day i had long stright and wind behind, plus i only 5"7 and 10 stone so it basically the bike) so could just stop there but i dm if it still does that with throttle restriction out, all i wanna know is would it be legal to take it out?
