Donington, 24/03

I seem to have just booked with FE for Donington on the 24th of March.

If anyone else is doing the same one, feel free to say hello. I'll be the cack-handed fool on a gixer wobbling round like I did CBT the day before.

Donington 24/3; Cadwell 31/3; Snett 01/4

Also now doing Cadwell (£105) a week later on Easter Sunday, and Snetterton (£115) the day after on Easter Monday. Both with FE.

Plenty cheapness, if you ignore the whole hotel, tyres, petrol and van hire thing.

Bloody hell thats a busy few weeks. Hope you get good weather. Why not start a week earlier at Rockingham on the 17/3. That'll be my first one....

I'm only doing Cadwell and Snetterton back-to-back because they're in the same part of the country (give or take) and it works out well.

Doing days close together can work well - I did Thursday/Friday at Cadwell last August followed by Monday at Brands and I was well into the groove by the end of it. Similarly last Autumn I did Brands, Oulton and Silverstone on near-consecutive weekends and it worked out perfectly.

Hopefully the weather will be good but, if not, I have a set of wets and I'm not afraid to use them. Just need to sort out a gazebo and genny for Cadwell and I'm sorted.

Have a new 4m x 3m Gazebo I bought new for Cadwell last year. Needed it too. Weather was errrrr changeable to say the least. You can borrow it if you get stuck.

Beware the Gooseneck!

First time I did Cadwell we unloaded the night before, tied the gazebo to three bikes parked under it, and buggered off to our hotel in horizontal rain. You can say what you like about ZX10Rs, R1s and GSXR1000s but they make very good ground-anchors.

The best thing about the Gooseneck is the way it leads into Mansfield, my absolute favourite place for doing people on the brakes at Cadwell.

Ooh, I'm almost looking forward to it.

I lost my bearings coming up to the Gooseneck. Totally screwed up. Went straight across the left hander and down across the slope towards the tyre wall. Tried to turn downhill towards Mansfield on the grass and front gave way. I hit the tyre wall and the bike squashed me into the tyre wall.

Ouch a lot.

Apart from that, loved it.
