Speedo wiring help for GSX-R front end swap
Ill be cracking on finishing the front end in about a week after the wheels are both back on but I thought I'd ask advice on wiring up the speedo fix in good time before I start.
I bought this Hall effect sensor (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2609637704...4.m1497.l2649#) and I've got the button magnets and araldite ready to go, just need to know the best way to splice it to my wiring. Ill have to extend the wires on the sensor as they're not that long but when it comes to attaching can I get a connector like what's on the end of the speedo sensor ( not the one that's on it though) so it's a nice neat job or will I have to solder etc to my wiring and if that's the case any ideas on which wire to connect to the bike wiring? I think you might struggle to get that sensor close enough to the magnets to activate it, without fowling the mounting bolts on the sensor.
Why aren't you using the SV's sensor cable and connector? You just solder the new sensor on to the SV's wiring and hide the joint behind the mudguard. I used to have a note of the wiring colours and how to connect them but don't any more unfortunately |

From what I'd read it seemed like most people, and I might be wrong, have just soldered their sensors wiring onto the sv's and sold the SV speedo sensor which is what I was doing but I quite like the idea of using the wiring of it so could well do that but that's a job for the next week or so. |

bit late. since my speed kits are not going to materialise as laser cutter are not interested in small runs i might have a sensor with full length cable and an OEM connector. all you do is tell me the length and i'll crimp the connector on. it's not the silly one you have there it's the proper barrel type with single bolt fixing. not cheep mind at £30+p&p

I might very well have that off you, saves me doing the work and hopefully the sale of my speedo drive should cover the cost, I'll let you know though. |

Re: Speedo wiring help for GSX-R front end swap
I'm going to be putting the magnets in the discs later. Would putting 8 in alternating between pos and neg be overkill or would it help give a more accurate reading? Or should I just stick with 4?

Re: Speedo wiring help for GSX-R front end swap
i explained this in the PM i sent. they all face so they are attracted to the sensor. and you use 4 for your model equally spaced.
unless you have a compass then how do you know what side is what? |
