IMHO waste of £40 they dont do anything and just look good on the tank. We raced all season (TTC) and didnt use them. If anything scuff a bit of your leathers and will work just as well. Never had any issues with it either on my K9 650

Well I find myself gripping with my legs when I brake and I slide a little, I've had stomps a few yrs back and they worked but I bought some tech spec gripsters now.

This!

The most they probably do is give a 'warm glow' , which I suppose is okay... and possibly make good tank protectors :p

Casey Stoner doesn't appear to need them under hard braking. That must mean, for that purpose, they are a waste of money ;)

He's gripping with the other leg, look closely he has see through ones on.

As for grips on a road bike, depends on your riding style but I think they are worth the money.

I don't have them but god sometimes I wish I did. I can ride really hard and chuck it about, it's just annoying when I don't stay put lol
