Slipper Clutch on K3 dragging.
 

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with a slipper clutch, I fitted a TSS one to my K3 for the weekend... It didn't come with any instructions, neither could I find any online. So I used what info I could find on Sigmas website. (I think they are pretty much identical). The gap was also spot on 1.5mm as specified.

But... it was dragging badly once the engine had warmed up. It was very hard to change down gears. On the paddock stand it was even more evident. I couldn't stop the rear wheel spinning with the clutch pulled right in when it was in gear.

Clutch adjustment was ok, the first thing I checked... I swapped back to the standard clutch for the remainder of the day.

I did notice the anti judder seat was very had to get off the slipper's hub. So I think this may have been causing the problem.

Does anyone know if the anti judder assembly should even be in there? (I installed it in place of the second friction plate rather than the normal position)

I'd like to get it back in the bike for the next round, so any info would be really helpful.

I am not massively familiar with these parts except for the problems there were years ago with the TSS/sigma/yoyodine ones having wrong shim washers.

It should be ok to run without anti rattle shims so long as pack ends up same thickness.

That's what I was thinking YC. I'll give it a go, can't see any other reason for it dragging so much.

Just came across your thread.I have just fitted a sigma to my K6. Isn't 1.5mm at the edge of tolerance.Also the anti judder springs are very close fit which is normal....the sigma instructions state leave the anti judder springs in. I did not remove any pressure or friction plates just used my standard pack..... I can fax you a copy of the sigma instructions if that would help ( cant do scan and email ). also on initial run up on the stands I to experienced the clutch slightly "dragging" ...the clutch cable needed a tweek at the spring tensioner not cable.Regards Richard.

Good afternoon. Just to let you know I have Faxed over the installation directions. Its only three pages taken from the CD that comes from sigma. The rest of the CD is just pictures of different types of slipper clutches plus illustrations for identifying clutch plate measuring holes. You wil notice the instrctions for a standard fit ( less than 80bhp) do not mention judder spring or plate removal. Over 80bhp stiffer springs ( CBR600 )are advised. Plate removal is mentioned under "customising". Hope this helps.let me know how it goes.Regards Richard.

I know this thread is like 12 years old, BUT

Came here because I was having the exact same issue with my newly installed Yoyodyne, including the judder spring seat that was extremely hard to get on/off the drum.

I emailed Fred at Yoyodyne who recommended removing the spring and seat. It's functioning perfectly now. Just leaving this note in case anyone else runs into the same issue.
