Battery Problems
Hey guys, so I passed my test on the 28th (wooo :D) got the sv insured and all ready for the road.
I went to start her up, and she was struggling to fire (been sat for a couple of months), she finally started for about 3 seconds and then died. I tried multiple times to start her, and as you can imagine the battery took quite a pounding. Eventually, the battery gave up, and was totally out of juice. So I put the battery on charge overnight last night, came home from work an hour ago, installed the battery again, and when I tried to start her she was making an electronic 'flickering' noise.' Also, the headlights are very faint, and only the rear indicators work; the fronts don't come on at all. I have my suspicions the battery is the same one since the bike rolled out of the factory. Any help would be most appreciated. It's such a bummer as today is a lovely day and I was looking forward to finally getting out on the old girl. :( |
Re: Battery Problems
Mr LPH had exactly the same issue on his XJR1300 this weekend. Ended up paying £80 for a new battery. Advice from bike place in town was to avoid cheap batteries on eBay.

Re: Battery Problems
there are several price bracket batteries out there, it all depends on what you have the budget for really the cheaper Dynavolt/atom ones come in at £25 ish, and are fine if regularly used, the Varta/Numax/Lucas ones are somewhere in the middle (£30-50)and if you have the money get a Yuasa (which is normally OEM for most bikes).
Pay your money make your choice.... :smt102 |
