Which exhaust?

What are there? Wouldn't mind changing it for something smaller, better sound and to unleash any extra power that may (or may not) be there. Also how easy it it to change myself? It's a faired pointy SV650.

I know nothing about what exhaust would be best and how loud I could go without causing unwanted attention.

Also what other common mods are there for the SV650? Are there any must haves? Changed the tank pad yesterday for a proper one and looks much better.

If you're after a slip on I can recommend Delkevic. I have a carbon stubby which cost around £140 ish delivered. It is loud, but not ridiculously OTT. Failing that, MTC also do some nice stubby style exhausts (do a search on fleabay) for similar prices.

You won't get any extra power from a slip on (well maybe a couple of BHP if your lucky), but will certainly make your bike sound a whole lot better :)

In terms of fitting, as long as you're reasonably competent with a hacksaw and allen key / sockets, you shouldn't have any issues.

Could be mistaken but didn't someone say not to go carbon for the SV's? Can't understand why though

Some people say that the vtwin engine can crack a carbon can due to vibration, etc. Personally it's never bothered me and I've never seen any evidence to back it up. If it was such an issue then there wouldn't be so many carbon exhausts available for vtwin bikes.

Yeah that's what I thought.

Go for a Fuel, easy fit, sound sweet. Better than the standard rocket launcher.

I'd go for some mirror extenders they're one of the first things I got and give you a bit more vision in the rear view, more a safety thing but every little bit helps!!

I had a scorpion and like it a lot. baffle out all the time, and wasn't too loud. First thing I would buy for an sv is................................a Fenda Extenda!!!! If you don't have one, buy one online now! I know all too well what the consequences are. Ask the GM lot!

I had a carbon oval remus Revolution on an 05 pointy for 5 years and about 40,000 miles. No cracking or other 'vibration' associated damage.

But the sound was loverley!
