Fully Synth in my bike? problem?
I just noticed that most people recommend semi synth oil.... I just bought and poured the following into my bike as it came as a bundle with a sv650 oil filter from busters... is this ok:
Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 Fully Synthetic oil change kit with cannister oil filter for the model listed above and the appropriate wrench for the job. A fully synthetic lubricant with R.C.E Technology, designed to provide Shell’s ultimate engine protection and performance for all kinds of modern bikes. The latest generation of motorcycle engines require premium synthetic oils to maintain the highest standards of protection and performance, whatever the engine size. |

Good morning all.
Shell advance is good stuff, you'll have no problems with it. There's lots of info on here regarding fully versus semi. I'm a big fan of fully sythetic, & all the bikes that I've maintained over the last Donkey's years, that have done extreme mileages have all been run on Castrol fully synthetic. Cheers. |

Re: Fully Synth in my bike? problem?
Great to hear - a few people in "real life" had conflicting views on it but I'm happy to leave it in.. the main issue was one of them thought it may effect the lubricating of the clutch rather than do engine damage.
The clutch does feel as if it doesnt full disengage when starting off or wheeling it about but it may be due to the level being bang on the full line (no higher)... not sure |
