Cleaning leathers - how?

Anyone ever cleaned leather jackets and trousers? done a search but couldn't see anything. I have a leather jacket that's a few years old in good condition just needs a clean up.

I use something called mustang leather food from memory, but nikwax do a cleaner and food product too. Just get a cloth and work through the jacket s but at a time :-)

I use the autoglym leather cleaner and then the autoglym leather care cream, then spray the insides with febreze. Doesn't stop me looking and smelling like a hobo but it sorts my leathers out no problem :p ;)

Have you considered also taking a bath and having a shave?

Bit extreme I know but it might help :p

The missus used Doktor Power Magic Eraser on her pearl white jacket that had gone a bit brown. It definitely cleaned it up nicely. We didn't have any leather conditioner so just used body butter afterwards. I've never bothered cleaning mine but then they are black anyway.

Saddle soap is what i bought from the shop. Apply with a damp cloth then polish off i think it is. That way they get conditioned and stay soft

Clean leathers?

I scrape the bugs off and occasionally rub in some dubbin. I do not have a beard but can still look like and smell like a tramp, but one of those sadly mentally ill ones that drinks floor cleaner and eats flies.

On a serious note, I find warm soapy water and then allow to dry in the air gets rid of most of the nasties. Once dry, a going over with leather food/dubbin makes them feel love and supple with out damaging their protection. My leather trousers are lined, but the lining does not come out so that needs a wash every now and again. The other thing I do is not wear them for anything other than riding my bike (despite what you may hear!). I also use leather dye for shoes on any places that start to fade. Strangely my left knee is starting to get a bit worn, so I may consider a pair of thicker knee patches at some point. Sowing them is hard work though and I blunted two leather needles this week when I had to replace one zip! #-o
