Bike breaking advice?
Folks,
I've decided to break down the GSXR and sell all the bits that are in a in a condition to sell. Haven't done this before so all advice is welcome :) The bike in question is or was a Suzuki GSXR 1000 K8 with approx 9k miles on the clock. Bits that I can't sell because they were destroyed were the front wheel, headlight, left and right fairings, front nose cone and left front peg and gear linkage. |
Re: Bike Breaking Advice
I'd be interested in a price for the front end but it'd have to be 100% straight

Re: Bike Breaking Advice
I guess I meant to say I'd need clarification that all the right checks have been made... and also by front end I meant the usable parts that aren't borked... ie forks, axle, yokes, bars, front fender, caliper, rotors IE what I need for a fork conversion on my bike.

Re: Bike Breaking Advice
Split it into manageable chunks that will sell and be couriered/collecter easily such as engine, carbs/airbox, rear swingarm/shock, frame with logbook (if not written off), rear subframe rear wheel/spindle/caliper.
If you start breaking it down into too small sections it takes forever to sell/list on fleabay, you will end up with loads of no good to anyone parts and ebay might think you are a commercial breaker :p Have a look to try and buy the parts you are trying to sell, that will give you a rough guide on how to price it up. When it comes to popular bikes they are worth more as parts.... Chris |
Re: Bike breaking advice?
Any particular reason you decided to break it? Given the parts you have listed as damaged that is well within fixing up, especially if you use second hand parts off Ebay.
If that was a K5 I could put that back on the road with just the parts I've got in my garage..... |
Re: Bike breaking advice?
The frame has snapped in two at the headstock :-(
