Replacing brake fluid reservoir?
Hi,
Over the weekend i got the bike washed at my local car cleaning place. When the bike had come out i was pleased with how clean it was until i got home and realised they had snapped the front Brake Fluid Reservoir off so now it is just hanging down by the brake pipe. When replacing these do you need to bleed the brake system again? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2809651092...=p5197.c0.m619 Would the above item be a direct fit? Mason |
Re: Snapped Brake Fluid Reservoir
You shouldn't need to bleed it after swapping. A
Assuming its broken where the plastic tab sticks down and mounts to the bracket then for what its worth, I've broken them in the past and been able to fix it by getting 2 over sized washers either side of the fitting. The washers then clamp it quite nicely, superglue across the crack wont hurt to give you a double strong bond. |
Re: Snapped Brake Fluid Reservoir
I hope your gona ask em for the cash for a new one! Even if you do end up bodging it yourself..

Re: Snapped Brake Fluid Reservoir
I would but it isnt worth the grief as you could probably guess they barely speak a word of english and as ive left it this long the only answer i will get it ' it wasnt me ' lol
It is snapped off above the bolt piece so no way of bodging it ive taped it up to ride to work and it ok for the time being |
Re: Replacing brake fluid reservoir?
Can anyone tell me if this will fit my bike?

Re: Replacing brake fluid reservoir?
Why not go for a Rizoma fluid pot, they look a heck of a lot better than the OE items. You may be lucky and not have to bleed the system afterwards if you can manage to nip up the hose that leads away from the master cylinder.

Re: Replacing brake fluid reservoir?
If you use a brake pipe clamp as near to the reservoir and before the master cylinder as possible you should be able to refill it and the air automatically will come out the top.
If you do not have a brake clamp a set of broad head molegrips and bit of rag round the brake reservoir/master cylinder connect pipe may get away with the same result. Keep the reservoir above the level of the master cylinder all the time if you can and it will be simple |
